Ramakrishnan Parthasarathy, Ph.D., is a Technical Specialist at the firms Bangalore and Mountain View office. Ramakrishnans practice emphasizes patent prosecution in all areas of Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Nanotechnology, and Computer Science.
Prior to joining Raj Abhyanker PC, Ramakrishnan worked as a Patent Engineer at Osha Liang PC, Houston, TX, where he drafted and handled numerous applications for clients in both commercial and research (academic and non-academic) sectors in areas not limited to semiconductors, VLSI circuits, computer systems, compressors, mechanical connectors, optoelectronics, consumer electronics, materials science, and lighting systems.
Ramakrishnan obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Applied Electrophysics) from the University of Virginia (U.Va), Charlottesville, with experience at a top Terahertz (THz) group providing research opportunities at the U.Va Far-Infrared Receiver Laboratory (Physics), Millimeter Wave Laboratory (EE), and the National Radio Astronomy (NRAO) Laboratory. Ramakrishnans research extended the applicability of THz spectroscopy for biosensing by: enhancing detection sensitivity through design of periodic structures, characterizing biomolecules by their dielectric properties instead of transmission and reflection properties of bio-samples, and extending spectroscopy to the low-THz end through the utilization of a noise power source. While at U.Va, Ramakrishnan was nominated for the Louis T. Rader outstanding Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) graduate research award for the 2006-2007 year.
Ramakrishnans specialties lie in photonics, nanotechnology, novel materials and devices, optical and electrical properties, semiconductor physics, electromagnetic structures, Microwave engineering, and antennas and wave propagation. He is currently preparing to take the Patent Bar exam shortly.
