Raj Abhyanker is a U.S. patent attorney focusing on U.S. patent
preparation, prosecution, and due diligence litigation support.
Raj has drafted and prosecuted United States patent applications for
numerous multinational and venture backed companies including Texas
Instruments, Intel, Apple Computer, eBay, Adobe, LSI Logic, Rambus,
America Online, Guidant, and Cisco Systems.
Raj has been registered with the United States patent bar since
November 1999. Prior to starting his own firm in 2005, Raj Abhyanker
was a patent attorney at large U.S. patent law firms including Blakely
Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman PC and Schwegman Lundberg Woessner & Kluth
P.A. In 1999, Raj wrote a book on taking the U.S. Patent Bar exam,
which has been distributed nationally by REA Publishing. Raj's book
has been reviewed by the American Bar Association, the National
Association of Patent Practitioners, and has sold more than 5,000
copies worldwide through Amazon and B&N.com. Raj has excellent English
analytical writing skills, and received a 99th percentile rank on the
GMAT analytical writing section.
Prior to entering law practice, Raj worked as an electrical engineer
and business executive at numerous companies including Lockheed
Martin, Hewlett Packard Company, and Juniper Networks.
Raj is a co-founder of numerous startups during his career, including
AOLClassifieds.com (acquired by AOL in 1995), MacInsider.com (large
Macintosh news site in mid 1990s), Clay Pixel Studios (3D animation
studio), and CenterD (formerly Fatdoor, raised approximately $7M in
funding in 2007). Raj has been an invited speaker at a number of
national conferences and universities, including at the Harvard
Business School, UC Berkeley Boalt School of Law, National South Asian
Bar Association, University of Chicago College of Business,
Northwestern Kellogg School of Business, and at TiE Silicon Valley.
Raj holds a bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State
University, and studied in the graduate school of Electrical
Engineering at Stanford University. In addition, he holds MBA and
Juris Doctorate degrees from Arizona State University. Raj is a
Center Fellow of the Arizona State University Sandra Day O�Connor
School of Law, and is a former President of the IP Law Association.
Raj is a member of the State Bar of California (active) and the United States
Patent Bar (active).
